• Notes

  Married: Charles Lewis appears on the Pittsylvania County Personal Property Tax list through 1788. He is absent from the tax list in 1789 and thereafter. Appearing in his place is Mary Ann Lewis. From this evidence I conclude that Mary Ann Lewis is the widow of Charles Lewis and that he died between 1788 and 1789.
