Notes - It appears that Benjamin Cannon moved to Louisa Co., where he likely married his first wife, Mary East. The 1768 list of tithables in Louisa Co. includes Benjamin Cannon, who appears as a thithable in the household of Joseph East (Davis, p. 14). Joseph East was charged with three tithes in 1768 including Benjamin Cannon and a slave named Fanny. Benjamin Cannon also appears as a tithable in Joseph East household in 1769 and 1770 (Davis, pp. 20, 25). In 1773, Benjamin Cannon appears in the Louisa Co. tithable list with 12 tithes. (Davis, p. 43). In 1774 and 1775, Benjamin Cannon is listed with 3 tithes including a slave named Nan (Davis, pp. 51, 59). No deeds in Louisa Co. mention Benjamn Cannon, so he apparently did not own land in Louisa Co.
- Deed Book 2, p. 231. 18 Nov. 1795, N.C. Grant - Stokes County - Joseph Welsh 50 ac. on snow Creek adj. his former corner, Charles Beazley, Henry Baker, Peter Hairston (now Kennon) including improvement Jane Nicholston now lives on. No sale of the adjoining land from Peter Hairston to Benjamin Kennon has been found. It is possible that Benjamin acquired this property by right of his wife, Henningham. More research is neeed.
