12 December 1795 - Capt. CHEATHAM and Capt. RUDD among those named to meet at Chesterfield Co. Courthouse on the 23 of this month to hold a General Court-Martial for the trial of Capt Thomas RAILEY, Robert WOOLDRIDGE, Aaron HAKINS and Richard GOODE, in arrest for disobedience of orders, of which Court Major BURFOOT is to preside. Their disobedience was in refusing to sit in a Court of Enquiry and assessment of fines for the Second BATTALION on 26 October last, in a house of Fras. LOCKETT, Sr., on the north side of the road. RAILEY and WOOLDRIDGE objected to Capts. Hezekiah RUDD, Thomas BRANCH, and Lieut. William GOODE sitting on the Court, and they refusing to sit, there was not a sufficient number of officers to compose a board. (Calendar of VA State Papers, Vol. 8, pp. 346-47)
