W. 7 W M 1880 Census of Oconee Co., SC Household #120, Family #120 Herron, Mary 60 W F Martha J. 31 W F daughter James W. 10 W M grandson On July 14, 2001 I (Don Bennett) interviewed Dewey Herron, a grandson of Newton R. Herron. Newton is a brother to Martha. According to Dewey, Martha moved to Arkansas. He said that Martha and her son, Jim Herron, came to visit his family in 1935 and again in 1937. Dewey's story seems to match data from the census. In 1880 we find Martha, 31, living in her mother's household with her son, Jim, age 10. Gassville Cemetery (Baxter Co. AK) James W. Herron and his wife, Luvenia, are buried next to Martha Herron White. Dates on the tombstones are: James W. Herron 16 Aug 1869 24 Dec 1958 (father) Luvenia Herron 10 Feb 1876 2 Jan 1957 (mother) Martha Herron White 4 Apr 1848 7 Feb 1911 James W. Herron was married to Luvenia White in 1891. Martha, mother of James, married William D. White, father of Luvenia, in 1899.
