Julia Young had a sister named Emily Young. Emily left a will in Rockingham Co., NC dated 14 Feb. 1868 and probated during the May session 1868. She made bequests to her brother Robert J. Young, niece Mary E. Carrell, and her unnamed mother. Mary E. Carrell is the daughter of Julia Ann Young and John L. Carrell. Julia's brother Robert married Mary L. Pigram in 1871. The marriage license identifies his parents and Robert and Mary Young. The 1850 census lists Mary Young, 65, as head of household. She is living with her daughter Emily, 26, and son Robert, 22. The 1860 census lists Mary Young, 70, as head of household. She is living with her daughter Emily, 32, and son Robert, 27. The 1870 census lists Robert J. Young as head of household.
