Reuben Bennett's father lived in Bedford County. It is likely that Reuben Bennett moved to Pittsylvania County in 1778 at about the same time that his father died.

Notes - On 1 Feb. 1776, William Bennett, Sr., deed by gift 194 acres of land on the south side of the Staunton River to Reuben Bennett. William Bennett was the grandfather of Reuben Bennett. The land was the lower part of a parcel containing 264 acres conveyed to William Bennett by Richard Randolph. The remaining 70 acres was granted by William Bennett to Peter Bennett, brother of Reuben Bennett. William Goad, James Clements, Tobias Phillips William Bennett Jr. and James Bennett witnessed the deed, which was recorded 22 Feb. 1776. Hannah, the wife of William Bennett relinquished her right of dower. Pittsylvania Co. Deed Book 4, p. 109-110. He later sold this land to Thomas Pullen.
On 23 April 1778, Reuben Bennett purchased 85 acres of land on the south side of the Staunton River from Benjamin Tarrant. There were no witnesses. Pittsylvania Co. Deed Book 4, p. 487. Deed was delivered to James Keatts for John D. Rovere heirs, who are owners on 25 Jan. 1862.
On 23 Oct. 1784, Reuben Bennett witnessed a deed from John Hammett to Heffrey Early for 200 acres joining William and James Hammett, and John Thompson. Wilkes Co, Georgia Deed Book CC, p. 152-53 (Davidson I, p. 265).
Reuben Bennett is listed in the 1785 tax list for Wilkes Co. GA, with 1 poll and 600 acres. A John Bennett is listed with 1 poll and 400 acres. (Davidson II, pp. 17-18).
On 10 June, 1786, Reuben Bennett sold to Meredith Cathing, 200 acres on Kettle Creek. The land was granted to Reuben Bennett in 1785. Wilkes County, GA Deed Book CC, p. 159 (Davidson I, p. 266).
On 25 Jul. 1789, Reuben Bennett witnessed a decision by arbitrators Absolom Bedell and John Nelson regarding a dispute between John Hindley and john Cole. the arbitrators decided that john Cole should relinquish his claim to 400 acres adjacent Jacob Hindley. Wilkes County, GA Deed Book DD, p. 189 (Davidson I, p. 269).
On 19 Sept. 1789, Reuben Bennett purchased 450 acres in Wilkes Co. from John Cole, Jr. The land was on Kettle Creek joinning John Leftwich. Edward Gresham and Josiah Hatcher witnessed the deed. Wilkes County, GA Deed Book BB, p. 35 (Davidson I, p. 253).
On 3 Nov. 1788, a bill of sale from Lewis McLean to Reuben Bennett, Jesse Evans, and Jane Vardeman, for a mulatto slave named Silva, beds, and other perspnal goods was recorded in Wilkes Co., Ga. 12 Nov 1792. Reuben Bennett of Wilkes Co., GA sold 194 a. of land on south side of Staunton River bounded by William Bennett to Thomas Pullen. Deed is witnessed by James Arthur, Richard Bennett, William Bennett. Rec. 16 Apr. 1792. Pittsylvania Co., Virginia Deeds 1791-1794, p. 174.
On 25 Oct 1791, Reuben Bennett sold to John Johns, both of Wilkes Co, 225 acres on Kettle Creek for 10 pds. (signed) Reuben Bennett, Elizabeth Bennett. Wit: Benjn. Branham, Spencer Brantham, J.P., Regd. 29 Oct 1793. Wilkes County, Georgia Deed Book KK, p. 227. This deed gives the name of Reuben’s wife.
Reuben Bennett purchased from David Duncan, both of Wilkes Co. GA, £100, 75 acres on Kettle Creek, part of land whereon said David Duncan now lives, corner Joseph White, Reuben Bennett, Jesse Evans, John Robertson. Wit. Lewis McLean, Winston Bennett, Daniel Duncan. Reg. on oath of Bennett & McLean 26 April 1794. Wilkes County, GA Deed Book MM, p. 232.
A Reuben Bennett received 1 draw in the 1803 land lottery. In 1806, a Reuben Bennett received 1 draw in Maj. J. Paterson’s Batt., Capt. Jos. Henderson’s District and a Reuben Bennett, Sr. received 2 draws in Capt. Sherrod Malone’s District. (Davidson I, pp. 310, 320, 322).
Reuben Bennett died by 21 Mar. 1808 when an inventory of his estate was returned to court. Wilkes County, GA, Inventories, Sales, Etc, Book MM, 1807-1810, p. 105 (Davidson I, p. 116). On 7 April 1809, an account of sales was recorded by his administrator Stephen Evans. Purchasers named included Richard Bennett, Winston Bennett, William Bennett, Alexander Bennett, Stephen Evans, and William Evans. Wilkes County, GA, Inventories, Sales, Etc, Book NN, 1807-1810, p. 32 (Davidson I, p. 119).
During court held on 10 March, 1809, Richard and Asinea Bennett chose James Roan as their guardian. Mrs. Bennett (his wife) , was appointed guardian of Reuben and Polly with William Bennett as surety. Wilkes County, GA, Minutes of Inferior Court, 1798-1811, p. 393 (Davidson, p. 152). During court held on 8 Aug. 1809, Winston Bennett was appointed guardian of Winston and Asenith Bennett, orphans of Reuben Bennett. On 3 May, 1824, Elizabeth Bennett, guardian of Reuben Bennett and Polly Bennett, was ordered to appear in court and show cause why the representatives of Parmenas Cochran, dec’d and Thomas Bowles should not be relieved as her security. Stephen Evans was appointed administrator of Reuben Bennett’s estate. His administrators return for 1810 shows payment to James Findley, surveyor, and payment for a grant of land in behalf of the heirs. His return for 1811 shows payment to Elizabeth Bennett for herself and as guardian of Reuben and Polly Bennett, and payment to Winston Bennett and John Strozier large sums, no account mentioned. Returns for 1812 show payment to the heirs of Reuben Bennett, $11.00 each, $132.00. Returns for 1814 show payment to William, Richard and Winston Bennett, John Strozier, John Laws, Parmenas Cochran, William Powers, Elizabeth Bennett for herself and as guardian of Polly and Reuben Bennett $121.00 each, and payment received of William Bennett, Excr. of Peter Bennett, dec'd. certain sums.
