At Rest.
Father TOSH is with his God. For him 'tis gain and yet it hardly seems possible that Father TOSH is gone. He was a member of the Methodist church of Valley Falls, Kans., for the past 25 years. John F. TOSH was born in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, May 8, 1825 and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. R.C. FERRELL six miles northwest of Valley Falls, Kans., Oct. 7, 1907 where he had made his home for the past five years. They first lived in Virginia and four years later they moved to Hancock County, Indiana and lived there 16 years. Feb. 28, 1867 they with their family moved to Jefferson County near Valley Falls, which has been their home. To this union were born ten children, five sons and five daughters. And of their ten children seven still live to mourn his departure. A wife, two daughters, and one son have preceded him to the great beyond. All were present at his funeral except one son George of Oklahoma. John was one of a family of 12 children, eight of whom with their parents had preceded him to the spirit world. He has one brother living in Kansas, one brother living in Indiana, and sister and brother living in Virginia, besides other relatives and a host of friends to mourn his loss. Grandpa TOSH had been almost an invalid for nearly a year and on Oct. 7, 1907 he passed to the great beyond at the age of 82 years, 5 mo. and 29 days. The funeral services were conducted at the Methodist church, Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. ZOOK officiating, after which the body was laid to rest in the Rose Hill cemetery.

Uncle John Tosh Dead.
Uncle John F. TOSH who has been making his home with his daughter, Mrs. Robert FERRELL, after a lingering illness, passed away Monday afternoon at 4:30, October 7, 1907, in his 83rd year, of heart failure.
For many months he has been on the decline physicaly and mentally and a great care to his loving daughter and her family. His case was a striking example of the old observation, "once a man and twice a child." To him death was a sweet and welcome relief.
Mr. TOSH was a Virginian being born in the shadow of the Pittsylvania court house, and in the days of his prime was a strong, remarkable man. He was always interested in matters governmental.
In the early 60's he lived in Indiana and in 1867-8 located at Valley Falls, Kansas, which has since been his home.
His wife preceded him to the beyond some twenty months ago.
To them seven children were born all of whom are living as follows:
George, John B. and Jessie TOSH, Mrs. Elizabeth COPAS, who live in Ok; Mrs. Rebecca STRAWN, Mrs. mary Catherine FERRELL and John H. TOSH who live near Valley Falls. The funeral was held from the M.E. church Thursday afternoon at 1:30, Rev. LANDON of Dunavant officating at the services, assisted by Rev. ZOOK. There was a large attendance.
