      This Indenture, Made the fourteenth day of May in the year of Our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and Ninety three Between Hannah Thompson of Stokes County State of N Carolina of the one part and Martha Brock (wife of Francis Brock) Grand Daughter to the said Hannah Thompson of the Same place Witnesseth that the said Hannah Thompson as Well for the Natural love & affection which she hath and beareth unto the said Martha Brock and also for the better Maintenance of her the said Martha Brock, Hath Given and Granted And by these presents Doth Give Grant and Make Over unto the said Martha Brock and the heirs of her body forever A Certain Negroe Woman Slave Named Sarah, Now in the possession of Whalen Nuby living in Green County Franklin State, to the Only proper use and behoof of her the said Martha Brock and her heirs forever; Reserving her Increase or Desendants which May bear after this date Which Desendants or Children are to be Equally Divided Between the said Martha Brock Andrew Ray & Thomas Ray, my Grand Children. The Division to be made of each child when it is one year old But whereas Thomas Ray is weak in Judement (sic judgement?), Therefore Francis Brock and Andrew Ray are hereby appointed and Improvised to Superintend and take care of said Thomas Ray & part of said Children. And the said Hannah Thompson her heirs Executors & administrators Do hereby warrant and forever Defend the said Negroe Slave Sarah, unto the said Martha Brock & her heirs and assigns forever against the lawful Claims of all persons whatsoever. In Testimony Whereof the said Hannah Thompson hath hereunto set her hand and affixed her seal date as above. The Execution of the above Deed was duly proved in Open Court by the Oath of Archd Campbell and Ordered to be Certified. Robt W.
