He appears in the Rockingham County census in 1800 and 1810. He moved to Christian Co., KY around 1811 or 1812. In January 1811, he sold land to Isabel Young. Rockingham Co. Deed Book O, p. 23. Bailey Martin purchased 250 acres of land on the West Fork of the Red River in Christian County. The property included a mill. Bailey Martin died early in life in Christian Co., KY in October or November 1813. Christian County Will Book B, pp. 100-101. His wife Elizabeth is listed in the census in Christian County in 1820.
Some researchers appear to confuse Bailey Martin with William B. Martin. On 3 Nov 1812, William B. Martin and his wife Patience sold 200 acres of land on the waters of the West Fork of the Red River in Christian County, Kentucky to William L. Wilson. Christian County, Kentucky, Deed Book D, p. 53-54. This land is in the same general area where Bailey Martin lived. The deed refers to William B. Martin as a resident of Logan County, Kentucky. William B. Martin apparently died in Logan County about 1815. Logan County, Kentucky, Order Book 6, p. 115. In the May term of 1815, Patience Martin was ordered by the court in Logan County to produce the will of William B. Martin. Id. In June, Patience Martin appeared in court and stated that she did not have the will. Logan County, Kentucky, Order Book 6, p. 125. In September, the will is finally presented and proven by the oath of a witness from Halifax Co., North Carolina. Logan County, Kentucky, Order Book 6, p. 141.
