  An Azariah Scott appears in Caswell Co. in the 1850 census at page 202 taken Sept. 7, 1850. Mary Scott (90) from Granville NC is living in the household. Mary Scott is likely the mother of Azariah Scott. The remaining household members include John A. Scott (3), Martha F. Scott (5), William L. Scott (6), and Sallie A Scott (1). 1850 Caswell Co., North Carolina Census, Roll M432_623, p. 202. Caswell Co. Will Book S., p. 89. January Court 1859. Inventory of estate of Azariah Scott taken by John Manly on Oct. 20, 1858. John Manly may be the brother-in-law of Deborah Page and husband of Deborah’s sister Lucy. Caswell Co. Will Book S, p. 91. John Scott was also bondsman on the marriage bond for Bartlett Scott and Bashaba Roberts. Paul Haralson was a witness on the marriage bond of William Scott and Polly Puckett and Bartlett Scott was bondsman.. A William Allen Scott b 12 Oct 1797 in NC and married to America Bennett had a son named Azariah Scott born in Caswell Co. Maybe William Allen and my Azariah are brothers. Azariah Scott died in 1858. In the last census prior to his death, there were 4 children in his household: William L. (6), Martha F. (5), John A. (3) and Sallie A. (1). In the 1860 census a 16 year old W.L. Scott and 6 year old A.W. Scott are living in the household of John Manly, who was the administrator and brother in law of Azariah Scott. An Azariah Scott is listed in the John Manly household in the 1870 census. W. L. Scott appears to be the son of Azariah who is recorded in the 1850 census. A. W. Scott appears to be another son of Azariah who was born after the 1850 census. A 14 year old M. Scott (Martha F) is listed in the household of Hannah Kennon. It is not known what relationship, if any, existed between Hannah Kennon and the Scott family. However, both families lived in the Hogan Creek area of Caswell Co. It seems likely that Deborah Page predeceased her husband, since she does not appear in the 1860 census, and the children of Azariah and Deborah are living with other families.
