The Right Honourable Thomas Lord Fairfax Baron of Cameron in that Part of Great Britain called Scotland Proprieter of the Northern Neck of Virginia To all to whom this Present writing shall come sends Greeting Know ye that for good causes for and in consideration of the composition for my use Paid and for the Annual rent hereafter Reserved I have Given granted and Confirmed and by these Presents for me my Heirs & assigns do give grant and confirm unto William Bennit of the County of Prince William One certain Tract of Land waste situate in the said County joyning to the land on which and to the line of Robert Hedges Arrington & Bryan Chamlin and is bounded as by a Survey thereof made by John Warner as folleweth Beginning at a White Oak corner to the land the said Bennit lives on then S 20 E forty Seven Poles to a Red Oak then S 45 W thirty Poles near the line of Robert Hedges then on or near his line S 58 W One hundred & forty Six Poles then N 68 W Thirty four Poles to the line of Arrington then with his line S 25 W one hundred Sixty Six Poles to a white Oak on a hill side thence S 50 W one hundred and Six Poles to a branch then N one hundred and fourteen Poles up the branch then S 40 W 56 Poles to a red Oak then N 70 W forty seven Poles to two red oak Saplins near Chamlins line then N 5 W Sixty Poles to three Black Oak Saplins on a Ridge then N 30 E fifty Seven Poles to two Black Oak Saplins near a road S 65 E two hundred & nineteen Poles to a white Oak on a hill then S 30 E fifty Six Poles to a Red Oak then S 55 deg 30 One hundred and seventy Poles to the Beginning containing four Hundred thirty three Acres together with all Rights Profits & benefits to the same belonging Roial [sic: Royal] mines excepted and a full third part of all Lead Copper Tinn Coals Iron mines & Iron Ore that shall be found thereon To Have and to Hold the said four Hundred and thirty three Acres of Land Together with all Rights members and appurtenances to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining Except before Excepted to him the said William Bennit his Heirs and Assigns forever he the said William Bennet his Heirs assignes therefore Yielding and paying to me my Heirs and assigns to my or their certain Attorney or Attorneys Agent or Agents or to the certain Attorney or Attorneys of my Heirs and assigns Proprietors of the Northern Neck Yearly and every Year on the feast day of St. Michael the Archangel the fee Rent of one shilling money for every fifty Acres of Land hereby granted and so proportionable for a Greater or lesser Quantity Provided that if the said William his Heirs and assigns shall not pay the before reserved annual Rent so that the same or any part thereof shall be behind or unpaid by the space of two whole years after the same shall become due if lawfully demanded that then it shall and may be lawfull for me my Heirs and Assigns Proprietors as aforesaid my or their certain Attorney or Attorneys Agent or Agents into the above Premises to reenter and hold the same so as if this Grant had never Passed Given at my Office in the County of Prince William within my said Proprietory under my seal Dated this Twelfth Day of July in the Sixteenth Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the second by the Grace of God of Great Britain France & Ireland King Defender of the faith. The Right Honourable Thomas Lord Fairfax Baron of Cameron in that part of great Brittain called Scotland Proprietor of the northern neck of Virginia To all to whom this present writing shall come sends Greeting. Whereas William Bennet of the County of Prince William did set forth to my Office that he was possessed of a certain tract of Land granted by Deed bearing date the first day of November 1708 unto William Bennet his Father deceased containing two hundred ninety one Acres And also suggesting there was waste Land adjoyning for which he desired a resurvey & an including Deed. Know ye that for causes afores'd for & in consideration of the Composition for my use paid. For one hundred & forty three acres being the waste Land. And for the annual rent hereafter reserved out of the whole being Four hundred & thirty four Acres, I have give granted & confirmed, And by these presents for me my heirs & assigns. Do give grant & confirm unto the sd William Bennet the sd recited tracts situate in the sd County joyning on the Land he now lives on the Land of John Farrow deceased on the branches of Quantico, and bounded as by the sd resurvey made by Mr. George Byrn for Mr. John Warner as followeth. Beginning at A a red oak corner to another tract of the sd Bennet's extending thence N 30 W Fifty six poles to B. a white oak, thence N 20 E One hundred & forty eight poles to C, a white oak on Quantico run side, thence N 65 E One hundred nineteen poles to D, a large white oak on a hillside, thence S 12 E Sixty six poles to E, a red oak on Quantico Runside, thence N 82 E Forty six poles crossing the said run in the sd Course to F, thence S 57 E Forty two poles crossing the sd run in the sd course & running down the sd run to G, a white oak & red oak corner trees to a tract of Land taken up by Wm Bennett deceased, thence with or near that Line N 65 E Fifty three pokes to H, a white oak on the sd run side, then crossing the sd run S 17 E One hundred & twenty eight poles to I, a Poplar on a hillside, thence S 25 W Fifty one poles to K, a red Oak, then S 45 W One hundred twenty three poles to N, a white oak corner to the sd Bennet, then with his Line to the Beginning, Containing Four hundred & thirty foru Acres, Together with all rights members & appurtenances thereunto belonging, Royal mines excepted, And a full third part of all Lead Copper Tinn Coals, Iron mines & Iron ore that shall be found thereon. To have & to hold the said four hundred & thirty four acres of Land. Together with all rights profits & benefits to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining. Except before excepted, To him the sd William Bennet his heirs & assigns forever, He the sd Wm Bennet his heirs & assigns therefore Yielding & Paying unto me my heirs & assigns or to my certain Attorney or Attorneys Agent or Agents or to the certain Attorney or Attorneys of my hiers & assigns Proprietors of the sd northern neck yearly & every year on the feast day of St Michael the Archangel the fee rent of one shilling sterling money for every fifty acres of Land hereby granted & to proportionably for a greater of lesser quantity. Provided that if he the sd Wm Bennet his heirs & assings shall not pay the before reserved annual rent so that the same or any part thereof shall be behind or unpaid by the space of two whole years after the same shall become due if Lawfully demanded. That then it shall & may be lawful for me my heirs or assigns Proprietors as afores'd my or their certain Attorney or Attorneys Agent or Agents into the above granted premises to Reenter & hold the same so as this grant had never Pass'd. Given at my Office in the County of Fairfax within my sd Proprietary under my Seal. Witness my Agent & Attorney fully authoriz'd there to. Dated the twenty first day of December in the Sixteenth year of the reign of our sovereign Lord George the Second AD One thousand seven hundred & forty two.

KNOW ALL MEN by these presents that I FRANCIS PURNEL of the Parish of Dittingen in County of Prince (blank) for sum of Forty eight pounds Nine shillings & Nine pence Current money of Virginia have sold unto said WILLIAM BENNITT Two Negroes Vizt. Sarah & James as also Nine head of cattle marked with a crop in the left Ear and one Horse branded on the Near Buttock thus F, P. , also three Beds and furniture, one desk, four chests, one Copper Kettle & two pots, three Pewter dishes, Nine plates as also sundry pieces of Wooden & Earthen ware To Have and To Hold unto the said WILLIAM BENNETT his Executors and assigns Provided Nevertheless that if the said FRANCIS PURNEL truly pay unto the Children of MARY BENNETT the Wife of MASON BENNETT as they come of age the above mentioned Sum of Forty eight pounds Nine shillings & Nine pence to be equally divided between the said Children (BARNABY CANNON only Excepted he having received his proportion), which Moneys was bequeath unto the said Children by MARY ASHMORE deced or upon the giving a Counter Security for the Redemption of the said Slaves and other the said Premises, then this present writing or Bill of Sale to be void otherwise to remain in full power, In Witness whereof I have set my hand and Seal this 26th day of July in the year 1762
