This Indenture made this thirtieth day of September in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and twelve between William Scott, Samuel Scott and Pleasant Scott of the County of Halifax in the State of Virginia and John Scott, Abner Scott, John Mitchell and Frances his wife, Daniel Collins and Dicey his wife and Robert Holloway and Betsey his wife which said William, John Samuel, Abner, Pleasant and John Mitchell and Frances his wife, Daniel Collins and Dicey his wife, Robert Holloway and Betsey his wife are children Legatees of John Scott late of the County of Halifax in the State of Virginia of the one part and Alexander Posey of the County of Halifax in the State of Virginia of the other part. Winess that the said William Scott John Scott Samuel Scott Abner Scott Pleasant Scott John Mitchell and Frances his wife Daniel Collins and Dicey his wife Robert Holloway and Betsey his wife for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred and ninety dollars current and lawful money of Virginia to share and have paid by Alexander Posey of the County aforesaid. The Receipt hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained and sold and by those present doth grant bargain and confirm unto the said Alexander Posey and to his heirs and assignes forever one certain tract of or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Halifax aforesaid containing ninety seven and a half acres by survey more or lessand is bounded as followeth To Wit lying on both sides of Winns Creek adjoining the lands of Alexander Cunningham Samuel Scott and Abner Burton with the revision and revisions recorded hence property as also all the rights and claimed interest or demands of them the said William Scott, John Scott, Samuel Scott, Samuel Scott, Abner Scott, Pleasant Scott, John Mitchell and Frances his wife, Daniel Collins and Dicey his wife, Robert Holloway and Betsey his wife to the said Alexander Posey and to his heirs once assigns forever and the said William Scott John Scott Samuel Scott Abner Scott Pleasant Scott John Mitchell and Frances his wife Daniel Collins and Dicey his wife Robert Holloway and Betsey his wife for themselves and their heirs doth covenant and agree to and with the said Alexander Posey and his heirs and assigns the above granted lands and every part piece and parcel thereof to warrant and defend the right of title thereof of the said Alexander Posey and his heirs against the claims and demand of themselves and all and every other person or persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend in Wit ref. Where of the said William Scott John Scott Samuel Scott Abner Scott Pleasant Scott John Mitchell and Frances his wife Daniel Collins and Dicey his wife Robert Holloway and Betsey his wife hath to these presents set their hands and affix their seals the day and year first above written.

3 May 1814. Land of John Warren deceased divided among among three heirs: John Scott on right of his wife, John McCain in right of his wife, and Thomas Brandon in right of his wife. John Scott received 96 acres adjacent Virginia line. John McCain received 96 acres adjacent Virginia line to Winn Creek. Thomas Brandon received 96 acres on Winn Creek adjacent Elliott. Land already allotted to his sonds during his lifetime includes 100 acress granted to Bluford Warren, 100 acres granted to Stuart Warren, and 100 acres granted to William Phelps in right of his wife Jane.
