The children of Aaron Saunders are identified in a petition to Sale Land filed during the administration of the estate of Aaron Saunders. His grandchildren by daughter Ann and son Ransom are also identified.
Aaron Saunders appears in the 1800 census in Caswell Col. (Roll 31, p 148). He is listed as being 16 - 25 years old. A female of the same age, presumably his wife, is also in the household. The following entry is for Eliz. Saunders. She is over 45 and has two young males living at home with her; one under 10 (so husband perhaps still living in 1790 but dead by 1800) and one 10-16. An Abner Underwood is ;listed on the same page and a Wm. Underwood is listed on the previous page.
Aron Sanders appears on the 1810 census in Caswell Co. NC with Mason Sanders. (Roll 38, p. 68) His household includes 1 male under 10, 1 male 26-45, 2 females under 10, and 1 female 26-45. Taylor Sanders appears on the previous page.
Taylor Sanders sold 50 acres on Hogans Creek to Aaron Sanders for 100 pounds on 2 Sept. 1814. The deed was witnessed by James Somers and Mason Sanders. Caswell Co. Deed Book R, p 244.
Aaron and his wife Susannah appear in the 1850 census in Caswell Co., NC. Their son-in-law James Combs and daughter Susannah Combs are living with them.
AARON SANDERS was born somewhere in VIRGINIA in 1772-1774. He was in CASWELL CO NORTH CAROLINA by 1800 and died there by 1854, when his estate was settled. He was married in about 1799 (where?) to Susannah GIBBS (c1778- c1853), who had also been born in VA. She was a daughter of the Revolutionary War soldier and pensioner Shadrach GIBBS (c1760-1837), who was b in Halifax Co VA, lived before the war in Spartanburg District SOUTH CAROLINA, and lived after the war in Caswell Co NC (where he remarried 11 May 1785 to EASTER ROBINSON; bondsman was Charles MCINTOSH), Union District SC, Wilson Co TENNESSEE, Robertson Co TN and (from 1823) Franklin Co ALABAMA.
Two of Aaron and Susannah Sanders's children married children of J. MASON SANDERS (d c1836 Caswell Co NC), m 10 Oct 1808 in Caswell Co NC to Priscilla UNDERWOOD (bondsman Leonard SUTTON) - His children, named in his will, were WILLIAM SANDERS, ANDREW SANDERS, LEROY SANDERS, RICHARD SANDERS, ELIZABETH, ANNY SMITH, LYDIA, POLLY SARTIN and "AMY" [sic - she was also called OMAH]. The will says that Elizabeth, Amy and Lydia were the three youngest
daughters.
There are strong hints that Aaron Saunders, Mason Sanders, Smith Sanders and Taylor Sanders who all lived in Caswell Co NC, are brothers. Smith Sanders died in 1807.
