- I will start with William Cannon who built Mt. Ida. Around 1807 he sold Mt. Ida and moved to Davidson Co. TN. He married first Sarah Mosby and second Martha Cocke. I believe that he had a daughter named Martha by his first wife who married Silas Flourney. He also had three sons by Sarah named James, John and William. I have seen biographies that say the sons moved to TN with their father, but haven't been able to confirm that. Interestingly, a John and William Cannon appeartogether in Caswell around 1783. Silas and Martha definitely moved to Davidson Co., TN. Silas Flourney was apparently an ardent supporter of Andrew jackson and is reported to have lived for a period at theHermitage.
