  George Payne was a justice of Goochland in 1730, sheriff in 1732, and vestryman of St. James parish in 1729. His will dated 3 Dec. 1744 and probated 15 Jan. 1744/45 names hsi wife and sons Josias, George, and John. Goochland Co. Deed Book 4, pp. 484-486.
