Notes - Axie or Axy is an unusual name even in the time period in which she lived. Although I have no records of her real name, I believe It is a nickname for the biblical name, Achsah, daughter of Caleb. Achsah Dill was apperently named after her aunt, Achsah Loftis, who married Ignatius Few and is buried in the Few Family Cemetery in Greenville Co., SC.
Axie is named in the probate records of George Dill as Mrs. Axy Staton and Mrs. Richard Staton. Partial excerpt. 'Mrs. Axy Staton, sworn said Mr. Westmorland never gave her any money, nor she never asked him for any, she asked him if there was any more coming to her and he toldher that there was.'
