• Notes

  Served in the Revolutionary War and was a member of the Continental Congress 1785-1786. In 1789, he was appointed marshall of the United States District Court of Virginia by George Washington. he was foreman of the jury in the trail of Aaron Burr on charges of treason in 1807.
