Henry Pew was born in 1634. He gave a deposition in 1679 in which he stated his age to be about 45. Henrico Co. Record Book, 1677-1692, p. 104. Henry Pew married Jane, whose surname is not known, and had two daughters, Ann and Jane.
He purchased 2000 acres of land from Robert Sharpe on 2 Aug. 1680. Henrico Co. Record Book, 1677-1692, p. 137. The land was bounded by Morgan Peirse and Three Mile Creek. On 23 April 1688, Henry Pew patented 411 acres in Henrico Co. on the north side of the James River for the importation of nine persons. Virginia Patents, v. 7, p. 637. The land was along Four Mile Creek, Lenman’s Branch and Beauchamp’s path.
On 1 Dec. 1702, Henry Pew mad a deed of gift to his “well beloved grandson Abraham Childers, Junior” [Abraham Childers III] of 100 acres bounded by Henry Pew’s own land, Four Mile Creek, and Myery Branch. Henrico Co. Record Book, 1697-1704, p. 296-97.
Henry Pew deed land to his daughter Jane and her husband John Price on 31 July 1688. The deed is not recorded, but Jane and her seond husband Hugh Ligon “gave with love to John [Jr.], eldest son of john and jane one half of a tract where henry Pew, father of Jane pew formerly lived.” Henrico Co. Record Book, 1710 - 1714, p. 234.
On 5 May 1709, Henry Pew made a will at age 75. Henrico Co. Record Book, 1710 - 1714, p. 115. He gave his grandson Abraham Childers, Jr. [Abraham Childers III] the plantation where Henry Pew lived. He gave grandsons Daniel Price, John Childers, and Joseph Adkins 100 acres on four Mile Creek. Any surplus of land was given to Abraham. Daughters Jane Price and Ann Adkins received 1 shilling each. He named as executor his grandson Abraham Childers. John Bolling, John Adkins, and Kath. Babrium witnessed tthe will, which was recorded 3 march 1711. Id.
