Will of William Whitlow
I William Whitlow of the county of Goochland being sick and weak but in perfect mind and memory do make and ordain this my last will and Testament in manner and form following...I give and bequeath to my son William Whitlow one cow and yearling...also one bed and furniture to the one executer where I lie.
I give and bequeath to my son Henry one set of ------ and bed and furniture. I give and bequeath to my son John my riding mare.
I give and bequeath to my son Nathan the dark Bay mare...
To my daughter Jane (Jean) Crow one negro woman named Temperance and her child named Hannah during her natural life and her descendants. Said negro woman child and her increase be equally divided between my Mary Crow and Sarah Crow forever.
To my daughter Mary Hancock one negro girl named Lucy and during her natural life and her increase the said negro woman and her increase to be equally divided among her children then living also to my daughter Mary the land and plantation whereon I now live during her natural life and at her decease to be equally divided among her children now living to them and to their heirs forever.
To my daughter Martha Darby one negro boy named Jack during her natural life....
I give to my son Richard during his natural life one negro man named Daniel at at his decease to his children then living to them and their heirs forever.
I give to my granddaughter Anne Barnett one cow and yearling to her & her heirs forever.
I give to my son Henry one large pott(?)
I give to my son Richard fifty acres of land adjoining the land where he now lives...
I give to my daughter Jane one jar(?) & pott(?)....
I give to my son William one --- Black Walnut Walnut table...
I give to my daughter Mary two sows and pigs...
I give to my son Henry and my daughter Jane all the remainder of my household and kitchen furniture to be equally divided among them and their heirs.
To my negros Frank and Sam I leave in manner following Either to be hired or sold to discharge my personal debts...my son Henry and my son in law John Crow to do it if they can pay my debts without selling the said slaves I give the above said slaves to be equally divided between them...
My son Henry and my son in law John Crow executers of my last will and testament. Hereby excluding all wills that might have been made witness my hand and seal this 12th day February 1758. his + mark.
Witnesses Richard Clayton, Henry Whitlow, John Whitlow.
Goochland County April the 19th 1758 ...by the oaths of John Crow and John Hughes to be the last will and testament of Wm. Whitlow, decd. and thereupon admitted to record.
