  • Notes 
    • Alfred appears to be the son of Joshua Herron. Alfred is listed immediately next door to Joshua in both the 1840 and 1850 Census of Pickens Co., SC. Alfred also named his first son Joshua. So far, I have been unable to locate Alfred in the 1860 census.

      On March 14, 1861, Alfred enlisted for service in the Civil War as a private in Company E of 1st SC Regiment, known as Orr's rifles. He died of disease in Belle View Hospital, Richmond, VA. At the time of his death, Orr's rifles had not yet been engaged in any fighting.
