Winfield Wright is the son of Benjamin Wight. He was born abt. 1777, probably in Halifax Co., NC. Winfield Wright moved with his father Benjamin Wright to Johnston Co., NC.
Winfield Wright was granted 200 acres of land on head of Hannah’s Creek by the State of North Carolina on 16 Dec. 1803. The land joined the land of William Durham, Michael Connally, Wright’s own line, Jonas Massey, Josiah Atkins, Ezekiel Billington. The land was entered on 8 Feb. 1800. Prior to 21 Sept. 1804, Winfield Wright removed to WashingtonCo., GA. On 21 Sept. 1804 Winfiled Wright sold 200 acres of land adjacent William Wright, John Mann Wright, Nathan Williams, Michael Conally, Clement Bryan, and Jones Maces to Samuel Durham for $150. William Durham and James Durham witnessed the deed, which was recorded in Nov. Ct. 1806. Johnston Co. Deed Book E-2, p. 122.
