William Wright is the son of William Wright and Chloe Whitehead. He appears in the 1810 and 1820 census in Nash Co., North Carolina. His location in 1830 is currently unknown.
William Wright married Elizabeth Sorsby, daughter of Benjamin Sorsby. William Wright acquired 94.5 acres of land in a divisionof the estate of Benjamin Sorsby. Nash Co. Deed Book 89, p. 49. William and his wife Elizabeth later sold the land to Joseph Arrington. Nash Co. Deed Book 10, p. 37.
Benjamin Mason of Nash Co, NC to William Batley of aforesaid, 14 March 1816, for $400, one Negro man by the name of Harry. Bent Mason. Wit: John Screws, W. Wright. Nash County November Sessions 1816. The foregoing bill of sale was duly proven in open Court by the oath of John Screws on motion order to be Recorded. wn Hall ce. And is Registered in obedience to the above order. Ld F. Enen PR. On 11 Nov. 1818, William Wright and his wife Elizabeth sold to Joseph Arrington, for $120, 94 acres adjoining Gorge Gardner, ir being partof a tract of land formerly belonging to the late Benjamin Sorsby, which fell to Elizabeth Wright by the death of her father. Richard Arrington and S. Westray witnessed the deed. Elizabeth was examine separately from her husband by Alanson Powell, JP. Nash Co. Deed Book 10, p. 37.
On 21 Jan. 1820 William Wright gave a deed of trust for the 760 acres he was given by his father where he was then living and eight negros to Jonathan Whitehead to secure a debt to Jonathan Whitehead. Benjamin Culpepper and John Dortch witnessed the deed of trust. Nash Co. Deed Book 10, p. 145. Jonathan Whitehead sold the land to Isaac Hilliard for $1505.00 on 7 Nov. 1820. Nash Co. Deed Book 10, p. 199.
William Wright is mentioned as an adjoining landowner in a deed daed 20 Dec. 1824 from Jacob Ing to Robert C. Hilliard. The land was on the north side of Swift Cr. Nash Co. Deed Book 11, p. 168
