      pp. 165a--166 IN THE NAME OF GOD Amen I EDWARD MASON of Stafford County beinge Sicke in body but of pfect and Sounde Memory doe make this my Last Will & Testament in manner and forme followeing Viz.

      Imprimis I committ my Soule to Aiimighte God in full assurance through ye merritts of my blessed Saviour Jesus Christ to have a blessed resurreccen as for my worldly Goods I doe dispose of as followeth

      I give and bequeath to my Eldest Son GEORGE MASON Three hundred and fifty acres of land bee ye same more or lesse together with all ye houseing fenceinge and outhouses thereunto belonginge unto him & his heires for ever. the said three hundred and fifty acres of land being ye same 1 now live on and my will is that my said Sonne GEORGE MASON to bee at age to enjoy possession of his Land att. ye age of Sixteen yeares

      lttem I give my lands called by ye name of 'MERRYFIELD' by estimacon one thousand three hundred & seventie acres & & lyein ge beinge upon ye South side of the South Runne of QUANTICOTT in Stafford Countie ye said land to be equally divided betweene my Sonne GEORGE MASON and my Daughter MARGARITE MASON ANNE (Written over) MASON and their heires for ever

      Item it is my will that in case my Sonne GEORGE MASON should die before ye age of Six-teen yeares my Will is that my dear & Loveinge Wife MARGARETT MASON shall have one hundred and fifty acres of lande out of ye three hundred and fifty acres of land within specified that l gave to my Sonne GEORGE MASON to her & her heires for ever wth ye house I now live in wth all outhouses orchards fencinge thereunto belonginge and as for ye rest of my worldly Estate after my Debts are satisfied and paid to be divided equally betweene my leverage Wife &Children.

      Ittem I appoint my loveinge Wife to bee Sole Extrx. of this my Last Will and Testament desireing a decent & Christian like Burial and I doe utterly revoke all former Wills by me made. In Wittness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seale this 28th day of February 1690

      662. Forasmuch as RICHARD GIBSON and EDWARD MASON late of this County deced

      entered themselves as Securities with RICHARD NIXON for the due and faithful administration of THOS. HOLMES Estate late of this County deced and whereas the said Richard Nixon after he had obtained administration of the said deced Holmes Estate did by virtue of said administration wast embezzle and consume the said Estate and afterwards run away out of this County without paying the Just debts of the aforesaid Holmes deced .. and whereas ROBERT HANKS one of the choicest creditors of the deced Holmes obtained an order of this Court

      to enter his action against Richard Gibson and Edward Mason .. and now forasmuch as Richard Gibson one of the Securitys did appear in this Court and alledged that Edward Mason the other Security was since dead and that he doubted not but could find many things in this County which did of right belong to the afore-said Nixon Estate .. Therefore tis ordered Richard Gibson shall between this and next court make a thorough search and Inspection into the Estate of the aforesaid Holmes deced and that if he find any part thereof to return an account of what he finds and in whose hands he finds it to the next Court and that the aforesaid action be referred until then.

      754. ROBT. HANKS complaining sheweth that THOMAS HOLMES late of this County deced at time of his death stood Indebted to the Petr by Two Bills the sum of two thousand seven hundred pounds of Tobacco and caske that the said Holmes dyed intestate and RICHARD GIBSON (sic should be RICHARD NIXON) marrying his widow obtained admn. upon the Estate and before the Plt could bring his action wasted the said Estate and run away so that the Plt could not proceed against him Whereupon the Plt by his petition made humble suit to your Worships that he might be qualified to sue Mr. Richd. Gibson and Mr. EDWD. MASON the Securities of the said Nixon for his faithful admr. which your worships was pleased to grant him order for Whereupon he hath now brought his action and prays Judgment against Mr. Richard Gibson and Mr. Edward Mason as Security of the said Nixon And now forasmuch as it doth appear to this Court that RICHARD NICKSON admr upon the Estate of Thomas Holmes and that Richard Gibson and Ed-ward Mason became security with him.. whereas Edward Mason is since dead There-fore tis ordered by this Court that Richard Gibson the other Security shall make payment

GEORGE BRENT complaining sbeweth that EDWARD MASON late of this County deced Stood indebted to the plt the sum of Sixteen and Eighty nine pounds of Tobacco by bill and Survey herein Court ready to be produced for which he hath brought his action against the said ABRAM FARROW as admr of the said Edward Mason Estate .. And the said Abraham Farrow in Qualification afsd came into Court and Produced the Inventory of the Estate of. Edward Mason whereby it appeared that there was due onely the sum of Seven hundred pounds of Tobacco out of the said Inventory onely that he had in his hands a bill of one thou-sand pounds of Tobacco due from ROBERT BRENT to the said Estate who did likewise in Court acknowledge it that the same was due as afsd Therefore tis ordered that George Brent shall have Judgement for the sum of seven hundred pounds of Tobacco in the hands of Abram Farrow being the balance of the Inventory of the Edward Mason Estate for the sum of nine hundred pounds of Tobacco due to the said Estate from the afsd Robert Brent.
