    • Rice Bennett was born about 1730, most likely in Hanover Co, Virginia. He died in Cumberland Co,, Virginia between 5 Aug. 1770 when he made his will and 24 Aug. 1772 when his will was probated in Court.

      Will of Rice Bennett.
      In the name of God, Amen. I, Rice Bennett, beign in perfect health and in good memory,thanks be to God for it, do make this my last will and testament as followeth. Item, I lend to my wife Sarah Bennett during her widowhood my whole estate personal and realand if she should marry before my son William Bennet comes to age of twenty one years then my executors are to act as followeth: My will is after my wife marys, if she do mary, that my whole estate be equally divided among my three children, viz., Mary Bennett, William and John, only if John be not schold John is to have five pound for pay for his scholing more than his equal part. If Mary Bennett should die before she mary her part of my effects to be equally divided between William and John. If either of them should die before marig the deceased part to return to the surviving heirs. . . . I leave William Hamblton, John Jones and Sarah Bennett my executors.

      On 28 Oct. 1782, the Court ordered the property of Rice Bennett to be divided among his surviving children. Thomas Linthicum and his wife Mary were given two slaves, George and Isaac, valued at 151.16 John Bennett was given a girl Vilet and bonds due to the estate. No share was granted to William so he is presumed to be deceased.
