    • There is some question about the parents of Mabel Bennett. Her death certificate does not identify her parents. Also, she was not living with her parents during any census before her marriage. In the 1900 census, she is living in the household of her grandmother, Elizabeth, who had remarried to Joseph Richardson. The Joseph Richardson household also included J. W. Bennett, son of William and Nannie Bennett. J.W. Bennett is the brother of William James Bennett and absent other evidence would be presumed to be the father of Mabel because they are living in the same household. However, the obituary of Nannie Bennett identifies one of the daughters of nannie Bennett as Mrs Alfred Alcove. I think the obituary misspelled the last name, which should be Alcorn. We know that Mabel married Alfred Alcorn so the obituary provides the only direct evidence regarding the identity of Mabel's parents. J. W,. Bennett, show is living in the household of Joseph Richardson would be the uncle of Mabel Bennett. I do not know why Mabel would be living in the household of her grandmother and step grandfather when her two younger sisters were living at home with their parents.
