- Dugal and Elizabeth Ballentine arrived with their family from Ireland aboard _Earl of Denegal_, Duncan Ferguson, Master, December 22, 1767. A list of the family members and the acreage received can be gleaned from _A Compilation of the Original Lists of Protestant Immigrants to South Carolina 1763-1773_ by Janie Revill, GPC, 1968, pages 87-92. They came in response to the Bounty Act passed July 25, 1761. Dugal's Royal Grant can be found in the SC Archives, Royal Grants, vol. 32, pg. 51. It is for 'two hundred acres of land in Craven County the waters of Wateree Creek bounding Northerly by John Isaacs land Easterly by Robert Ellisons land the other sides by vacant lands.' It is signed August 11, 1774.
