  Note	[William2.FTW] REFN: 4220 James H. Gilreath served in the War of 1812 in the SC Militia for w hich service he received a disability pension. In 1824 he sold his land in S C and moved to Gwinnett County, Georgia where he is listed on the 1830 census living in the same area as distant relatives Smith Jones and his siblings. However, there is no proof that he knew that they were related. By 1840 he had moved to Chatooga County, GA where he remained for the rest of his life a nd where many of his descendents live today. James and his family remained s taunch Unionists during the Civil War.
