  Note	Family oral history states that Pickney Monroe Herron had a sister named Pasha (pronounced Pay sha) and that she married a Massey. She would therefore be a daughter of John Herron and Mary Martin. The 1880 census of Oconee Co., SC show a David and Patience Massey listed next to Mary Martin Herron and Pickney Herron. In this census Patience is 38 years old giving a birthdate of approximately 1842. She is not, however, listed in the household of John and Mary Herron in the 1850 census when she would have been of child of about 8 years old. On the other hand, the death certificate of John S. John S. Massey and Mary Ida Lowie are children of Patience. Notes from another researcher: Here is what I know about Patience after 1880: She is in Franklin Co. GA, Bryant's district by Pink in 1900. Her son John married NancyWilliams in Franklin Co. GA in 1903. Then, in 1910, she and her son John Stephen Massey and his family arein Wilcox Co. GA. I have no idea why they are there- no one else in my lines was ever in Wilcox. I cannot find Patience or her son John in 1920. I have looked and looked and looked. Then, in 1930, John S. Massey is back in Oconee county with his family. Patience is not with him-- which makes sense if she died in 1923. One of John's sons says he was born in Alabama. I have looked in Alabama for the family in 1920 without success. John S. Massey and his wife Nancy Williams Massey are buried in Oconee Co. in Westminster First Baptist cemetery. But, I have never found any burial record for Patience. ------------------------------------------------------------
