20 Nov. 1795. Thomas Bennett purchased 78 acres on the county line adjacent Atkinson from James Gillaspy for 50 pounds. Rotherick McDaniel, Travis Bennett, and James Watson witnessed the deed. Caswell Co. Deed Book J, p. 165 (Kendall, p. 165).
13 Nov. 1801. Thomas Bennett was a witness to a power of attorney granted by Jesse Bennett of Jackson Co., Ga to John Bennett of Pittsylvania Co., Va. Jesse Bennett and John Bennett are both brothers of Thomas Bennett. The reason for the POA was to attend to the divsion of land of Samuel Paul, Jesse Bennett’s father-in-law. Other witnesses to the POA included Thomas Barnett, Roderick McDaniel, Dotson Bennett, and Travis Bennett. Caswell Co. Deed Book N, p. 1 (Kendall, p. 237)
24 Mar. 1812. Thomas Bennett witnessed deed from James Gillaspy to Alexander Gillaspy for 49.5 acres of land on the north side of the Dan River adjacent Roger Atkinson, Jno. Lewis. John Bennett and Jamison Corbin also witnessed the deed. Caswell Co. Deed Book Q, p. 421 (Kendall, p. 319)
Will of Thomas Bennett Caswell Co., North Carolina Will Book M, p. 23 Dated: January 22, 1831 Proved: Oct. 1831 I Thomas Bennett of the County of Caswell and the State of North Carolina do hereby make this my last will and testament in manner and formfollowing, that is to say: 1st I desire that all my Just debts shall be paid out of the furnishable part of my estate. 2nd I give and bequeathed onto my beloved son, Dodson Bennett the Just & full sum of one dollar. 3rd I give and bequeathed onto my beloved daughter Nancy Worsham formerly Nancy Bennett the Just and full sum of one dollar. 4th I give and bequeathed onto my beloved son Tapley Bennett the Just and full sum of one dollar. 5th I give and bequeathed onto my beloved daughter Polly Goin formerly Polly Bennett the Just and full sum of one dollar. 6th I give and bequeathed onto my beloved son John Bennett the Just and full sum of one dollar. 7th I give and bequeathed onto my beloved son Mumford Bennett the Just and full sum of one dollar. 8th I giveand bequeathed onto my beloved son Thomas Bennett the Just and full sum of one dollar. 9th I give and bequeathed onto my beloved son William Moore Bennett the Just and full sum of one dollar. !0th My wish anddesire is that my wife Milly Bennett shall have the remainder of my estate both real and personal during her natural life, and after her decease I wish said estate (with the exception of my negro boy Cager) to be equally divided between my three youngest children, namely, Electa Elizabeth Bennett, Louisiana Jackson Bennett, and Edward Warren Bennett, and said boy Cager, I give and bequeath unto my daughter Electa Elizabeth Bennett extra with an equal part of my estate with the above named Louisiana Jackson Bennett and Edward Warren Bennett. And Lastly,I do hereby constitute and appoint my friends Doctor __ Williams Esq.and William Lyon Executors of this my will and testament, hereby revoking all other or former wills and testaments by me heretofore made.
