  	There are many discrepancies concerning the birthdate of Mary Jane Carrell. Her tombstone gives her date of birth as 18 Dec 1852. Her age is given as 21 years in her marriage record in 1878 giving a birth year of 1857. Both these are clearly incorrect. Mary Jane is much older than these records indicate. Mary Jane is shown in her parents household in the 1850 census, so she was definitely born before 1850. Her age in this census shown to be 10 years. The 1900 census shows her date of birth as Dec 1845. Finally, her death certificate gives her date of birth as 8 Dec 1842.
