      pp. 292-294 To all Christian People .. I JOHN UNDERWOOD of Stafford County Planter send greeting this sixth August 1726 Know yee that I in consideration Eight thousand five hundred pounds of Tobacco in hand paid in Casks by FRANCIS PURNELL deced late of Stafford County do discharge FRANCIS PURNEL .. his heirs .. all my right in two 150 acres of land lyeing on south side of Quantico creek being part of the uppermost thousand acres included in WILLM. BOURNS pattent being one half of that land conveyed to me by deed from DANIEL MARLEY the other part being sold by me to THOMAS CHAPMAN SENIOR which is divided by a line of marked trees formerly made and agreed upon by Thomas Chapman Senior and the said Underwood included in William Bourn's pattent of two thousand acres which uppermost thousand acres begins at a marked line of trees on Quantico creek side running thro a small branch on swamp which divides this 1000 acres from 200 acres of land sold by William Bourne to RICHARD GIBSON called Amkorums Land the first of which thousand (vizt.) the said Bourne sold unto THOMAS BARTON 400 acres runing down the said creek into the woods near the little back creek and parralel with the head line the next 300 acres be-longing to MARY the Widdow and relict to WILLIAM WALTRIDGE deceased runing same course as the other till it be compleat before mentioned so the 150 acres mentioned to be sold ..

    • Prince William Co VA Bond Book 1732-1847: August 22nd 1737 (C-130)
      Know all Men by these Presents that we Mary Ashmore, Joseph Guess & John Carr are held and firmly bound unto Denis McCarty the first Justice in the Commission of Peace for Prince William County for and in behalf and to the sole use and behoof of the Justices of the said County and their successors in the sum of three hundred pounds to be paid to the said Denis McCarty his Executors Administrators and Assigns. To which payment well and truly to be made we bind ourselves and every of us our and every of our heirs, executors and administrators jointly and severally firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals dated this 22nd day of August 1737.
      The Condition of this Obligation is such that if the above bound Mary Ashmore administrix of all the Goods, Chattels and Credits of John Ashmore deceased do make or cause to be made a true and perfect Inventory of all and singular the Goods, Chattels, and Credits of the said Deceased, which have, or shall come to the hands, possession, or knowledge of the said Mary Ashmore or into the hands or possession of any other person or persons for her and the same so made, do exhibit into the County Court of Prince William at such time as she shall be thereunto required by the said Court; and the same Goods, Chattels and Credits, and all other the Goods, Chattels, and Credits of the said Deceased at the time of her death or which at any time shall come to the hands, possession of the said Mary Ashmore or into the hands and possession of any other person or persons for him do well and truly administer according to Law and further do make a just and true account of her Actings and Doings therein when thereto required by the said Court and all the rest and residue of the goods Chattels and Credits which shall be found remaining upon the said administrators account, the same being first examined and allowed by the Justices of the Court for the time being shall deliver and pay unto such person or persons respectively as the said Justices by their order or Judgment shall direct pursuant to the laws in that case made and provided and if it shall hereafter appear that any Last Will and Testament was made by the Deceased and the Executor or Executors therein named do Exhibit the same into Court making request to have it allowed and approved accordingly if the said Mary Ashmore being thereunto required do render and deliver up his letter of administration approbation of such Testament being first had and maid in the Court. Then this Obligation to be void and of none effect or else to remain in full force and virtue.
