- THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF ISABEL MARTIN
3 December 1813, Pr. Feb Term 1820

In the name of God amen. I Isabel Martin of the county of Rockingham and State of North Carolina being aged and infirm in body but in mind and memory as perfect as usual do make this my last will and testament disposing of my mortal estate in manner and form following to wit;Item I give and bequeath to David Scott my son one negro woman named Patt during his life and at his death to his son Andrew and if said woman hath increase to be equally divided among all his children.Item I give and bequeath to my grandson William Scott all the land I now live on supposed to be eighty one acres.Item I give to my daughter Nancy Matier forty dollars in cash to be paid out of the price of a negro hereafter named.Item I give to my two daughters Nancy Matier and Margaret Lemonds all of my household and kitchen furniture except one bed and furniture and one desk to be equaly divided between them as they think proper.Item I give to my daughter Margaret Lemonds thirty dollars to be paid out of the price of a negro hereafter named.Item I give to my grandson William Scott one bed and furniture.Item I give my son John Martin and to my daughter Martha Adkins a negro woman named Ebetha and my will and desire is that she should be treated well as she hath been a good slave to me.Item I give to my two daughters Martha Adkins and Esther Lemonds ten dollars each to be paid out of the price of a negro woman named Hannah which I desire should be sold to the highest bidder and also my desk and cupboard, also my horse and farming tools, my hogs and sheep and all my cattle except one cow.Item my will and desire is that after the money of sale of the above mentioned articles is collected and all my just debts is paid and legacies above mentioned that the balance remaining should be at the disposal of my executors in interest for the benefit of my son Andrew's heirs until they come of age and then to be equally divided between them all.Item I give to my negro woman names Hannah one cow.Lastly I appoint John Read and Thomas Hopkins, executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all others heretofore made in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this the third day of December one thousand eight hundred and thirteen.
