- The minister's return identifies William Millner as the husband of Sally Noell rather than Williamson. However, the historical records are confusing because Williamson is sometimes referred to as William and he also had a brother named William.
There is a chancery court case where Cornelius Noell, Jr. sued the administrator of Cornelius Noell, Sr. as well as the rest of his family. Bedford County, 019-1841-029. The case file includes a copy of a public notice printed in a newspaper in Lynchburg called the Virginian 19 Nov 1835, which states that Sally Noell is the widow of Williamson Millner. The case file also includes a bond entered into by Thomas Millner and Williamson Milner suggesting that they are family members. Thomas married Polly Noell so this bond makes sense assuming that Williamson married Sally Noell. Finally, court records show that William Millner was still alive after Sally Noell became widowed, so he cannot be her husband.
